Species and role
The official Field Notes assigns Palico the Assault label. This encyclopedia uses that label to organize companions; it does not substitute the species entry for an individual Buddy’s abilities.
Choosing a companion
Editorial notesA familiar companion is still a separate slot from a named Adventurer. Check the individual Buddy’s skill text; a species label alone does not identify every recruit.
Use an available companion to cover an observed need in a hunt. Compare its actual contribution before investing additional materials. A stronger description is not evidence of a better result for your current team.
What to record
For a useful comparison, record the Buddy’s individual name, level, equipped abilities, target and game version. Keep a species-level claim separate from an effect demonstrated by only one recruit.
