Adventurer tiers for learning co-op hunts

Editorial notes

This Monster Hunter Outlanders tier list prioritizes a clear contribution while learning a co-op encounter. It assumes you already have the character, understand their basic controls and can use the relevant skills. It does not rank recruitment value, rarity, solo speedruns or endgame damage. Entries within a tier are not ordered.

S means a kit we would inspect first for protection or group support; A means a focused offensive loop to practise; B means more conditional timing, resource or positioning demands in this learning exercise. B does not mean weak. All placements are low-confidence editorial judgments that may change after comparable live-client tests.

Provisional learning tiers

Post-launch editorial review · 30 October 2026. Based on official kit descriptions and pre-launch / CBT-era demonstrations. No current-client comparative testing; these are provisional learning recommendations, not a measured damage meta.

SInspect first for protection or group support
  • ArkayaSupport · Lance

A shield-producing resource cycle gives a learner a concrete defensive objective.

Condition: Resolve must be available; shielding is not permanent or proof that every attack is safe.

  • MadelynSupport · Bow

Nearby ally support offers a useful co-op purpose alongside dealing damage.

Condition: Position and skill timing matter; this placement does not establish solo damage or a healing rate.

AFocused offensive loops to practise
  • Ouyang VarenAssault · Lance

Guarding followed by a deliberate thrust is a readable practice loop.

Condition: Check which attacks can be guarded and when the follow-up is safe.

  • MidoriAssault · Long Sword

Gauge progress provides a visible goal for short, repeatable sequences.

Condition: Timing still matters; a full gauge is not a reason to attack through a monster’s turn.

  • RhodesAssault · Hammer

Charge and release make it easy to isolate one decision in a practice attempt.

Condition: Longer commitments need larger openings. This is not a stun or damage guarantee.

  • LukaAssault · Bow

Ranged positioning and precise shots make a focused accuracy exercise.

Condition: Aim and movement compete for attention; range alone does not make the hunt safe.

  • KeresDisruptor · Dual Blades

A clear chain into a follow-up gives a learner a repeatable offensive pattern.

Condition: Stop the chain when the opening ends. This placement assumes that habit is already being practised.

BPractise the additional condition first
  • HazeSupport · Dual Blades

Reactive timing adds another task while learning an unfamiliar monster.

Condition: Move up your own shortlist once the parry and follow-up are repeatable.

  • RyunosukeSupport · Long Sword

Stance preparation competes with watching the encounter.

Condition: Plan a safe preparation window; the Support label alone does not explain the kit’s utility.

  • LuxheartDisruptor · Great Sword

Stance and resource decisions can obscure a new player’s basic attack timing.

Condition: Learn one stance before comparing full sequences; no damage ceiling is inferred.

  • PyroAssault · Great Sword

A strategy involving absorbed hits is harder to assess before you know the incoming attack.

Condition: Survival and recovery costs matter. Do not take extra hits to imitate a showcase.

  • RayaDisruptor · Dual Blades

Offense and escape can compete for the same stamina reserve.

Condition: A player who manages that reserve may prefer Raya to a higher-tier entry.

  • PepperDisruptor · Heavy Bowgun

Aerial firing asks the learner to plan both the shot and the landing.

Condition: Clear space and a predictable target can make the sequence much easier to use.

What the letters measure

The comparison is about the learning burden suggested by the published kit. We favor a contribution you can identify, a resource cycle you can observe, and a way to help a group while still learning the target. We place additional setup or competing resources lower for this particular use case. These are qualitative inferences, with no invented scores or combat sample size.

A solo player should discount benefits that depend on nearby allies. An experienced player may value the very timing or stance mechanics that make an entry more demanding here. Ownership, gear, unlocks and comfort come before the letter. Keep using an available Adventurer that helps you finish hunts consistently.

CBT observations and the launch version

The board date is an editorial review date, not the date of a game benchmark. The linked skill videos were published before launch or reviewed during that period. They help identify a sequence but cannot validate current cooldowns, damage, recruitment availability or balance changes.

A tested ranking would need the live build and region, comparable upgrades, a defined monster and mode, repeated attempts, and failures recorded alongside successful clears. Until those records exist, there is no verified post-launch DPS ranking on this page. The Fated Adventurer is not assigned a single tier because its loadout and progression are separate variables.

Use the board to choose a practice question

Editorial notes

Start with the reason beneath an entry. For Arkaya, ask whether you can reach the defensive part of the cycle reliably; for Luka, ask whether you can keep aim consistent while moving. If that question does not address the problem ending your hunts, the entry’s letter is not useful to you.

No spending, rerolling or recruitment order is recommended by this board. This page will be reconsidered when a documented kit change or comparable live test changes the rationale, rather than merely receiving a new date each day.

Frequently asked questions

Who is S tier in this Monster Hunter Outlanders tier list?

Arkaya and Madelyn are S tier for this wiki’s provisional co-op learning rubric, because their described kits offer protection or nearby ally support. This is an editorial inference, not a tested launch damage ranking or a recruitment recommendation.

Is this a CBT tier list or a post-launch tier list?

The board was reviewed after launch on 30 October 2026, but its evidence is official kit descriptions and pre-launch or CBT-era demonstrations. Current-client comparative testing is still absent. Beta rankings are not treated as launch measurements.
